Welcome to Global Libraries Organizing!

We are a open group and forum for those interested in the future of libraries and the creation, organization, and distribution of knowledge, information and culture worldwide.

We are here to ease the self-organizing process for people and help them connect quickly with others with similiar interests, concerns, and objectives.

Global Library 2.0 Week
July 22nd to July 28th, 2007

Spread the Word & Participate this Summer!

Let's get every library in the world onboard...Start Now

The Goal:
To have all Libraries around the world stop and spend time with web 2.0, web 3D, and new media applications and participate in whatever way they choose in the global networked world.

Whether it is simply teaching your staff how to blog, making your first wiki, running & broadcasting a community event, partnering with organizations outside the library world, getting a 2nd life, joining or organizing a participatory network, connecting with librarians from different parts of the world...or organizing an unconference, creating better library applications for mobile phones, come up with ways to intergrate citizen's media into your library...

Participate!

Join this Ning, add yourself and your ideas for the week to the Blog, and add yourself the Map.

Introduce and Tag Yourself on the Forum so Others can find and connect with You.

Share what you are up to, what your thing is, what you want to create, learn, contribute, etc. on the Blog.

Get Connected & Organize Yourselves!

Cooperation Among Library Professionals

Hello everybody,As a professional i want to fullfill all the needs of the users of my library but to my dissatisfication i cant. The reasons are more than one and the most noticeable is the 'Financial one'.so to get rid of this barrier plus others, libraries need to cooperate with each other so that we can give rise to a 'Global library' where i can suggest the Users any library in any part of the World to fullfill their needs. So let us try it.

OK...maybe tha'ts hyperbole...people don't literally erupt into laughter, or even giggle politely into their hands. But when I make mention to others---even other librarians----that I prefer a "global perspective" (meaning considering the world at large), they react as if I've said, "Three cheers for stupidity!".

Having been a World language teacher, a global studies teacher/curriculum planner, and having worked in the corporate world on global initiatives (yes, that means outsourcing)

I'm Here! :)

This is a very nice social and professional meeting place for librarians. I spend too much time on the computer anyway so this is great for me.

I visit my profile on mySpace about once a week and that will probably be about what I do here. This is really nice. So easy to set up and configure. It reminds me a little of Vox. I have a blog there for my daughter so the grandparents can keep up with her. Thanks to the people responsible for putting this together. This is WAY better than myS… Continue
